BizBud (“we,” “us,” or “our”) provides accounting, bookkeeping, and tax services to content creators, influencers, and digital nomads. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect from visitors to thebizbud.com and from clients of our services, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over your information.
By using our website or engaging us as your accounting and tax provider, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.
What information we collect
Information you give us. When you contact us through the website, schedule a consultation, or engage us as a client, we collect the information you provide. That typically includes your name, email address, phone number, business name, and a description of what you are looking for. Once you engage us as a client, we collect the financial and tax information we need to do the work, including identification documents, bank statements, income records, expense receipts, prior-year tax returns, and information about your business operations.
Information collected automatically. When you visit thebizbud.com, we collect standard web-traffic information through cookies and analytics tools (typically Google Analytics or a similar service). That includes your IP address, browser type, pages visited, referring URL, and approximate location. We use this to understand how visitors find and use the site.
Information from third parties. If you connect us to your accounting software (QuickBooks Online, Xero, Wave, FreshBooks, or similar), payment processors (Stripe, PayPal, brand-deal platforms), or other financial systems as part of our engagement, we receive financial information from those systems. We only access what is needed for the services you have engaged us to perform.
How we use your information
We use your information to deliver the accounting, bookkeeping, and tax services you engage us for, to communicate with you about your engagement, to invoice you and process payments, to comply with legal and regulatory requirements (including federal and state tax filing obligations), to improve the website and our services, and to send occasional updates about BizBud (which you can opt out of at any time).
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your information with third parties for their marketing purposes. We do not use your tax or financial information for any purpose other than delivering the services you have engaged us to deliver.
Confidentiality of tax information (IRS Section 7216)
We are bound by Internal Revenue Code Section 7216, which prohibits tax return preparers from using or disclosing tax return information for purposes other than preparing the tax return without your prior written consent. We treat all client tax information as confidential and will not disclose it to any third party for any non-engagement purpose without your express written authorization. This obligation continues after our engagement with you ends.
We may share your tax information internally among BizBud team members involved in your engagement, with software providers and infrastructure vendors necessary to deliver our services (under their own confidentiality obligations), and as required by law, court order, or government authority with proper jurisdiction.
Who we share information with
Service providers. We share information with vendors that help us run the firm: accounting and bookkeeping software providers (QuickBooks Online, Xero, or similar, as applicable to your engagement), secure document portals for client file exchange, payment processors, email and communications platforms, and our own professional advisors (legal, insurance, malpractice carrier). These providers only access information that is needed for their function and are bound by their own confidentiality obligations.
Legal and regulatory. We may disclose information when required by law, in response to valid legal process (subpoena, court order), to comply with IRS or state tax authority requests within their jurisdiction, to protect our legal rights, or to prevent fraud or harm.
Business transfers. If BizBud is acquired, merges with another firm, or sells substantially all of its assets, client information may transfer as part of the transaction, subject to the same confidentiality obligations.
How long we keep your information
We retain client tax and financial records for the longer of seven years from the end of the engagement or the period required by IRS, state, and professional retention rules. We retain general business contact information for as long as you are an active client and for a reasonable period afterward in case you reengage. You can request earlier deletion of website contact information that is not tied to an active client engagement by emailing us (see the contact section below).
How we protect your information
We use industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect client information, including encrypted document portals for file exchange, multi-factor authentication on internal systems, role-based access control so only the team members working on your engagement can see your information, and ongoing security training for the team. We do not transmit sensitive financial documents through unencrypted email; we use secure portals instead. No system is perfectly secure, but we maintain the protections that the AICPA, IRS, and applicable state CPA boards expect of a professional services firm.
Your rights and choices
You have the right to ask us what information we hold about you, to request a correction if anything is inaccurate, to ask us to delete information that is not subject to retention requirements, to opt out of marketing communications at any time (every email includes an unsubscribe link), and to ask us to stop sharing your information with any specific third-party service provider where the law allows. To exercise any of these rights, email us at [CUSTOMIZE: primary privacy contact email] with the request.
California, Virginia, and other state privacy rights
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), including the right to know what personal information we have collected about you, the right to delete personal information not required for tax or professional retention, the right to correct inaccurate information, and the right to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell personal information). Residents of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and other states with consumer privacy laws have analogous rights under their state statutes. To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address in the previous section.
International visitors and digital-nomad clients
BizBud is based in the United States, and our services are designed for US-based tax and accounting compliance. If you visit our website from outside the United States or engage us as a digital-nomad client living abroad, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. Where the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or other non-US privacy law applies to information you provide, we will handle it in line with the lawful bases under those laws (typically, performance of a contract you have entered with us, compliance with US tax law, or your consent). If you are an EU/EEA resident and want to discuss the lawful basis for processing your information, email us at connect@thebizbud.com
Cookies and tracking
Thebizbud.com uses cookies for basic site functionality and analytics. Essential cookies are required for the site to work and cannot be disabled. Analytics cookies (typically Google Analytics) help us understand traffic patterns. You can control or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may affect site functionality.
Children’s information
Our services are for adult businesses and individuals. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 (or under 16 in jurisdictions that apply a higher age threshold). If you believe we have collected information from a child, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or applicable law. When we update it, we will revise the effective date at the top. For material changes, we will notify active clients by email. Continued use of the website or our services after an update means you accept the revised policy.
